NPC undertakes NEDS in Taraba

The National Population Commission (NPC) is currently undertaking the Nigerian Education Data Survey (NEDS) in all the 16 local governments of Taraba State and two development Areas.

A press statement issue to Daily Champion on behalf of the Federal Commissioner in the state, Sani Sule Sale, and signed by the state Director, Abijah Yurma, said the exercise involved the listing of Houses being covered.

It stated that the survey was being carried out in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health, Nigerian Government and the World Bank, is aimed at providing additional data for improved performance in the Educational sector in Nigeria.

According to the statement, Data generated from the survey will help in addressing problems of the sector to include enrollment of children and high incident of school dropout, particularly at the basic education level. It added that NEDS 2019 is the fourth in the series to be conducted in Nigeria, adding that five personnel earlier trained in Gombe are involved in the house listing exercise.

It further added that the main survey would commence after the house listing and that the exercise would last for thirty days.

It seeks the cooperation of the State and Local Governments, Traditional Rulers, Religious leaders and Stakeholders to make sure that the exercise succeeds.
