Senate on Tuesday resolved to hold National Security Summit to find lasting solution to security challenges across the country.
The lawmakers resolution to hold inclusive National Security summit is coming after seventeen months when Senate held Security summit chaired by Senator Ahmad Lawan who was Senate leader.
Senate resolution was sequel to motion sponsored by Senator Ago Akinyelure over the assassination of Mrs Funke Olakunrin , daughter of Afenifere leader, Reuben Fasoranti.
Senate President, Senator Ahmad Lawan called for Robust National Security summit while commenting on the motion sponsored by Senator Akinyelure.
According to him, the security situation is pervasive , everyone has the story to tell, we need all inclusive National Security summit, to find lasting solution to security problem in the country.
Some lawmakers who spoke earlier condemned the assassination of Mrs Olakunrin by unknown gunmen .
Speaking on the motion, Deputy leader, Senator Ajayi Borofice said it is unfortunate that Mrs Olakunrin was assassinated urging lawmakers to find lasting solution to security problem in the country.
