In its bid to obey the Lagos State directive on closure of non- essential products, the concerned traders have taken it upon themselves to educate members on the importance of this move and why compliance is required.

Also, awareness campaign on preventive measures have  been taken to essential markets to sensitise traders and buyers on why it is imperative to adhere to safety regulations against the Covid 19 disease.
In view of the spread of the coronavirus disease and government’s preventive measures, Lagos residents have finally begun to take seriously the mantra ‘Prevention is better than cure.’
At one of such non-essential markets on Lagos island, the amalgamated computer stationeries and allied trade association took government directives on an enlightenment campaign to members.
At Ile-Epo essential market, Agbado Oke-Odo, a suburb of the state, some of the traders and buyers were not observing total compliance as directed by government.
At the market therefore, leaders and stakeholders embarked on sensitization to educate traders on adherence to government directives and keeping safe at all times.
As at Friday night, number of Covid 19 cases in Nigeria was 70 with Lagos recording 44.
While government continues to engage the public on preventive measures and fine-tuning ways to curb the spread, the leaders stated: “Public adherence to safety directives many agreed was sacrosanct at this time”.
Lagos State Governor Babajde Sanwo-Olu had on Tuesday declared partial lockdown in the State.
The Governor made the declaration while addressing the press at the State House, Marina, Lagos.
With this directive, private sector is expected to comply by reducing the number of workers that come to work to senior ones.
All open markets have been directed to shut down except for sellers of essential commodities like food, medicines and other life-saving prodicts.
Also, the Governor hinted that the State Chief Judge, Justice Kazeem Alogba, had been informed to suspend all court sittings.
Directing all parks to shut down, Sanwo-Olu also stated that security personnel have been given the marching order to deal with anyone flouting the order.
