COVID-19: Gov Ayade announces stiff conditions for employment of 8,000 youths

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has announced stiff conditions for the employment of 8, 000 unemployed people in the State.

Prof Ayade had earlier announced the employment of 8, 000 unemployed people, to be paid N30, 000 per month to cushion the effect of coronavirus lockdown.

The Governor, in a press release signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Christian Ita and made available to us  on Saturday said that all registration for the automatic job placement will now be at the village square level, arising from family unit/playground.

“Names originating from the various family units are to be collated by village heads and forwarded to a local government coordinator that will be appointed by the COVID-19 Response Task Force.

“The list will be verified and authenticated by the paramount rulers of each local government area and submitted to the COVID-19 Response Task Force. Selected persons will be invited to an all expense paid induction course in Calabar in batches,” the released added.

It said after conclusion of the induction exercise, the selected persons will then be posted to their area of interest.

“Please note that the salary to be earned will be tax free as it falls within the range of income exempted from tax by the state tax exemption law,” it said

Governor had earlier announced three locations for the registrations of the potential workers.

Ayade’s Industrial Park for 5, 000 Agric sectors, CROSPIL for 1, 000 environment workers and Stadium for 2, 000 Security workers.

Giving this development, several thousands of unemployed youths besieged various registration centres with a view to be registered.
