As part of the activities lined up for the Second anniversary of the 8th Assembly, the House of Representatives has rolled out a plethora of events including an anniversary lecture with the theme: “Appraisal of the Legislative Agenda of the House of Representative “.
The special lecture which is slated to hold on Friday, 9th June, 2017 will be delivered by Prof George Amupikin in the hallowed chambers of the House to be Chaired by Segun Adeniyi, Editorial Board member of Thisday Newpapaers.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, Media and Publicity, House of Representatives, Hon. Abdulrazak Namdas during his weekly media chat in Abuja.
According to him, President, Muhammadu Buhari will be the Special Guest of the event to be accompanied by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo. Other guests to grace the occasion are the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Hon. Justice Walter Onnoghen, Clerk of the National Assembly Mohammed Sani Omolori, The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress Chief John-Odigie Oyegun, The Boars of Trustee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), The Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance including the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Muhammed Bello.
Others are former clerks of the House of Representatives, former members now executive governors, former members now Deputy governors and Ministers as well as former principal officers of the House.
While responding to the rejection of the South-East Development Commission bill by the House of Representatives, Hon Namdas said that the action was done in the interest of Nigeria, saying that the Bill may get different consideration if it reappears. He added that it is time the House conforms with digital technology where voting will be done electronically instead of through voice vote to ensure more transparency in legislative procedure.
On the kidnap Hon. Bardan Deutse (APC Kano) who is a member of the House, Namdas explained that the lawmaker was kidnapped in error and was quickly released when the abductors discovered that he was not the target, insisting that no ransom was paid to secure his release.
For a better society
