Decomposing body found in Osun River

An unidentified decomposing body of a woman has been discovered in a river around Temidire, Oke Ima area, Ilobu, Osun State.

According to findings, the dead body may have flown with the river from unknown location.

None of the resident could explain how the decomposing body found its way to the area or ascertain her identity as her head has been shaved and face mutilated.

This is coming few days after an old man’s body was found in Ojutu River in the same town.

Leader of Temidire community, Tijani Rasheed, expressed worry over the discovery, saying the Community has never had such horrific experience.

He said no case of robbery, ritual killing or kidnapping has been recorded in the community in the past.

A resident said they were alerted of the discovery by one of the members of the community who went to defecate near the river.

“It was a man who went to the river to defecate that saw the decomposing body. We then called the local government environmental sanitation officials who later came with policemen to come and see for themselves what has happened here”, the resident said.

The river where the decomposing body was found is in-between Ayeloja and Temidire-Oke Ima Communities in Ilobu, while findings deduced that the body could have been dumped in the river about four to five days earlier.

As at the time of filing this report, Environment Health, Irepodun Police Division Officials with the efforts of some community members have buried the deceased in the river bank.
