In a bid to bring a complete entertainment city for all Nigerians, Management of Dreamworld Leisure Limited, last week in Lagos unveiled its immediate plan for the Christmas, tagged the Dinosaur Arena and Delta Day event scheduled for December 12, 2015.
Dreamworld, also unveiled its decision to bring into the country a world class amusement and theme park for Lagosians and by extension Nigerians, noting that the first step towards bringing a complete entertainment city into the country was taken about 10 years ago.
According to the company, Deposit Money Banks are equity holders in the business, adding that the investment came as part of the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) N220 billion Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), while the Bank of Industry (BoI) on its own disbursed substantial amount to support the project.
Addressing newsmen, Acting Chairman of the company, Wale Mesioye said Dreamworld Africana would not only showcase the most exciting places to visit in Africa, the Mountain Kilimanjaro’s, Great Pyramids of Egypt, Victoria Falls but celebrate and showcase the culture of Nigeria, starting with Delta State, adding that they would go on to Lagos, Anambra day and others, while bringing unending excitement to Lagosians and all Nigerians.
Speaking on the investment into the project since its inception to date, he said it stood at N1 billon while the current budget is estimated at N500 million, while BoI is providing N350 million.
According to him, Dreamworld Africana plans to bring to Lagos one to two high profile events every month. “Some of the events include Water Splash fair, Go-kart completion, Family Fun day and Jean Carnival. In the long run, we aim to establish Dreamworld Africana, firmly in the Nigerian and global tourism annual even calendar. We envision visitors in their tens and possibly hundreds of thousands visiting the park annually, with the economic benefits in both local and foreign currency.
Mesioye however, assured the general public that in the coming month, additional facilities would include at least ten additional rides, the water Splash, 5D/7D Cinema, A Rail Walk Ride, Sporting facilities that would include soccer, Lawn Tennis, Basket ball, beach volley ball, Indoor event centre, 4 screen cinema and many more.
He said other facilities that would be added later include a technology park/ shopping mall, a virtual reality centre to give the great African experiences and a hotel, stating that “Theme park all over the culture of the host location.
