Edo State University, Iyamho (EUI), has reaffirmed that it was established to attain a world class standard right from its inception.Making the reaffirmation was Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, the acting Vice Chancellor of the University on the occasion of a press briefing held inside the senate chambers of the university to keep the media abreast of the activities of the institution within the first year of its opening.
Professor Aluyor asserted that in line with this mantra, the university boasts of some of the best equipment and facilities of its kind available in any of the nation’s higher institutions of learning.
That aside, he stated that the institution has a policy of impacting good morals on its students even as it has a zero tolerance for cultism and other social vices.
Flowing from this, he disclosed that from commencement the university instituted “a panel that will interview and ensure that from amongst the avalanche of applications that only the best were employed for the university.”
He added that the institution conducts a CBT examination so as to pick the best that will appear before the interview panel where those that would be employed are further employed.
Going further, he said: “At the professorial level, we had many applications. Where we were unable to find the quality of staff that we need we have gone out to target individuals that we know are experts in that field and we have appealed to them to come and join us. I must say that we have quite a few and we are expecting a few more.
Talking about the facilities and the state-of-the art equipment available to the students, the acting Vice Chancellor said the students are been taught how to keep them in top condition so that future generations of students will also enjoy them.
Meanwhile, the second matriculation ceremony of the institution will be held on Wednesday, March 22 while the first Founders Day Lecture to be made by Professor Friday Okonofua, Vice Chancellor of University of Medical Sciences, Ondo and Barrister Augustine Alegeh, former national President of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) comes up by 10am the following day.
