Two Owerri Soccer stars kidnapped in Ondo

DAMISI OJO, Akure.
Two players of the Heartland Football Club of Owerri, Imo State, were reportedly abducted by some gunmen on Benin-Akure, expressway, Ondo State on Sunday evening.

Sources hinted that the players, Dayo Ojo and Iluyomade Benjamin  were on their way to their base in Akure from Owerri , after a holiday was declared for the Heartland Football team following the Coronavirus palaver in the country.
It was learnt that the duo, who were former players of the Sunshine Stars of Akure, were abducted at Ipele town on Benin-Akure Expressway in Owo Local Government Area of the state.
However, details their seizure was sketchy at the press time.
The state Police Public Relations Officer Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident and said the police were already on the trail of the hoodlums to secure the release of the victims.
According to him,one of the players have been rescued by the men of the state police command.
 He however did not mention the name of the player rescued.
The police spokesman said they have been able to rescue one of the players and his men were already in the bush to tackle the Kidnappers.
He promised to volunteer details of incident as soon as  he gather the information from the Divisional Police Officer in Ipele-Owo.
