The All Progressives (APC) Senatorial candidate for Akwa Ibom North-West in the just-concluded National Assembly elections, Chief Inibehe Okori, has opened up on the March 28, 2015 elections and need for its cancellation by the tribunal saying, it was rigged out of proportion by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)  for Peoples’ Democratic Party. In this interview with journalists in Uyo recently, he also gave insight into Nigerians expectations from the Buhari’s presidency, as well as assured his constituents that he will retrieve his stolen mandate . Our Correspondent DENNIS UDOMA was there. Excerpts:


Suspected Boko Haram gunmen shot dead 21 people in northeast Nigeria who were trying to return home to recover abandoned food supplies, a local official and a victim’s relative said Monday.

“The men, 21 of them, were stopped at Bultaram (village) by gunmen we believe are Boko Haram who shot them dead,” said Baba Nuhu, an official with the Gujba local government in Yobe state.



Following media reports that the Speakership seat of the incoming 8th House of Representatives is vied for by many returning and new members of the House, a serving member of the House has urged his colleagues to respect whatever zoning formula the All Progressives Congress (APC) may bring forth in the selection of the leadership of the 8th Assembly.

Sovereign wealth funds (SWFs) seem to be the new must-have accessory for African governments – especially those with freshly discovered oil and gas reserves.
In the past three years Angola, Ghana and Nigeria have all set up funds. A string of other countries including Kenya, Liberia, Mozambique and Tanzania are planning to follow suit.

These are not the best of times for Nigeria. The polity is currently enmeshed in rapidly metastasizing cancer of political intolerance, economic uncertainty occasioned by international crude oil prices that have plunged to a new low and terror campaign by Boko Haran religious sect whose activities have brought a calamity of evil through massive bloodshed and depredation.
