Africa contributes 2-3% gas emissions, suffers negative impact of climate change - Adesina


President of African Development Bank (ADB), Akinwumi Adesina yesterday said that Africa contributes not more than 2-3 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions, but suffers disproportionately from the negative impacts of climate change.

Let me begin by telling a story. On June 1, 2015, the day I resumed work as adviser on media to President Muhammadu Buhari, he had admonished me: “Adesina, always tell me the truth. That is what I want from you. In this type of position I have found myself, it is very easy not to be told the truth. People will just tell you what they think you want to hear. But from you, I want the truth. As a General, I may argue, but please argue with me. Tell me the truth always.”


It was celebration for members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm in Lagos state weekend as dignitaries from all walks of life including versatile media professionals gathered at the Combo Hall, Lagos Television, Ikeja, to honour  10 distinguished journalists who, in their respective ways,  attained enviable heights by dint of hard work and resilience.
The reception which was organised by the Lagos State Council of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), specifically to honour its members who were elevated in journalism or appointed into public offices .
