OBIORA IFOH, Abuja
National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff on Tuesday said that it is worried by the Senator Ahmed Makarfi’s claim that his faction has a strong appeal at the Supreme Court as the law can not be rewritten to suit their personal interest.
Senator Sheriff also noted that PDP under his leadership has conducted successful local government election in Ebonyi state and it’s currently preparing for elections in Cross River and other state.
Deputy National Chairman of PDP, Cairo Ojougboh in a statement in Abuja while reacting to an earlier statement by Senator Makarfi said “What surprise us is that Makarfi claim he has a strong appeal at the Supreme Court when the Court of Appeal has made it clear that Makarfi disobeyed violently the order of Court in Lagos and Abuja. Is Makarfi expecting that the law will be re-written for them, to suit their personal interest?”
He said “as far as we are concern, we are one family and whatever problem we have in PDP we should not wash our dirty linen in the public.
“PDP has conducted successful local government election in Ebonyi state and signed by Ali Modu Sheriff. We are currently preparing for elections in Cross River and other state. All our primaries are open to PDP members and they are welcome to participate.”
He said that PDP is an embodiment of great Nigerians including its governors, who he said are performing very well in their various states as well as its youth organisations all across the states.
He said by the attitude of the PDP faction led by Makarfi, they are still unrepentant. “We implore then to have a change of heart and return to the fold, so that we can adequately prepare to return to power in 2019. The door of peace is still open, we urge the Makarfi group to go back to Dickson reconciliation committee’s recommendations.’
