Stakeholders to discuss dwindling oil revenue at NewsDirect anniversary

Dwindling oil revenue: Roles of infrastructure and security in fast-tracking economic growth and sustenance of democracy will be the major theme to be discussed at the fourth anniversary lecture and award ceremony of Nigerian NewsDirect which holds in Lagos today.
This became a major national discus as the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Dr (Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala had disclosed in Abuja recently that Nigeria requires investment of $14billion annually out of which $10bn should come from the Federal level.
In a statement made available to newsmen in Lagos, the Publisher/Editor-in-Chief, Nigerian NewsDirect, Dr.  Samuel Ibiyemi disclosed that the former Aviation Minister Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode has confirmed his participation as the Keynote Speaker for the fourth Anniversary slated for today at Eko Hotel &Suites.
This follows confirmation of participation by the  Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr.  Olusegun Olutoyin Aganga, Ogun State Governor, Senator  Ibikunle Amosun and  Managing Director/CEO, Niger Delta  Power Holding Company (NPDHC) Mr. James Abiodun Olotu among others.  According to him the anniversary lecture/award ceremony  is expected to reward individuals, corporate institutions, government officials both at state and federal levels  in recognition of their positive contributions to Nigerian economy.
Dr.  Ibiyemi noted that the difference of this year’s award ceremony from the previous ones is  that Governors, Ministers and  top industry players  started confirmation of  participation very early.
This, he said encouraged the committee to relocate the venue from Renaissance Hotel at Ikeja  to  Grandball Hall of Eko Hotel in Victoria Island  to be  able to accommodate all  guests of  political  leaders that will brainstorm on the theme of the anniversary lecture..
“This  event will be a place for them to brainstorm on how to contribute more to the Nigerian economy,” he said.
“This is part of Nigerian NewsDirect’ s corporate social responsibility programme designed to assist and encourage our leaders to be steadfast and dedicate resources to boost investment in  infrastructure He said that the lecture will also enable both leaders in the private and public sectors to recommend best form of collaboration that will encourage direct  investment in infrastructures so that challenges of insecurity will become a thing of the past. This will also enhance transportation of agricultural products from the rural areas to the market centres..
The Publisher disclosed list of resource persons and award recipients was carefully selected to ensure the emergence of   transparent Nigerians with good track record that others can emulate.
This  includes Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria, Peugeot Automobile of Nigeria, Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NPDHC) and  Oando Plc among others For instance, he said that  the Managing Director of the Niger Delta Power Holding Company (NPDHC) will receive award  on behalf of the company for the  contribution of over 4,500MW of electricity to the nation’s generation capacity.
He is also to be honoured for his strong stand against corruption since he assumed the position as helmsman despite the influence of contractors and political leaders during the  award and execution of multi-billion naira power contracts. “His transparency record has no equal in Nigeria today.
He remains a CEO that has refused all forms of influence that would have reduced the confidence of contractors and financiers of NIPP  projects,” he said.

Dr Ibiyemi explained  within the period of three years, the tenure of Dr Aganga has attracted over $59 billion investment into Nigerian economy.
He added that NewsDirect is recognizing  the contributions of  FMBN in driving the transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan through the provision of thousands of housing units for Nigerians and the steady rise of Oando Plc from a downstream indigenous company to  acquisition of multi-billion naira upstream assets of ConocoPhillips, a United States firm,” Dr Ibiyemi said.
