The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers of the Lagos Police Command have saved a middle-aged man from committing suicide while on their routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos, on Tuesday.
According to a brief update posted on the RRS Facebook timeline where ThePledge scooped the information, the man whose name was not provided has since been handed over to the Adekunle Police Station for further investigation after the rescue.
ThePledge recalls the Third Main Bridge has in recent years become a slaughter slab for those who had concluded to end it all by committing suicide.
It would also be recalled that the RRS had more than once offered timely services in saving lives in the past on the same bridge said to be the longest in Africa.
RRS wrote on its timeline, “Attempted Suicide: RRS officers on patrol along Third Mainland Bridge have prevented a man from jumping into the lagoon in a suicide attempt. He has been rescued and handed over to Adekunle Police Station for investigation.”
ACP Olatunji Disu, who recently bagged the Crime Reporters Association of Nigeria (CRAN) Man of the Year Award, is the RRS Commander.
