Reps demand submission of Ministers portfolios before screening.

EUCLID MYKE, Abuja.

The House of Representatives Wednesday urged the President to submit the names of ministers and their proposed portfolios to the National Assembly prior to their screening. The House equally resolved to ensure that any political office holder who had spent two years in office will only service one term just as political parties must choose the running mate of their President or Governor from a different political region.

This was sequel to a BIll moved by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Sulaimon Yusuf Lasun, on the need for the President to submit list of ministers and their proposed portfolios to the National Assembly and also the need to restrict the number of year of Political Office holder by restricting political office holders who have spent two years in office from running for more than one term.

Hon. Lasun stressed the need to put a stop to the inconsistencies that arise from court judgment, incapacitation or death of the office holder which distort political equilibrium and tenure of office just as he hammered on the need to get members of the National Assembly informed on the proposed portfolios of proposed ministers such that their efficiency can be tested along that line during their screening and thereby put square pegs in square hole.

The BIll was referred to the Ad-hoc commercial committee on Constitution Amendment.
