Renewed Boko Haram attacks: Defence Minister visits Maiduguri

Following the resurgence of Boko Hatsm attack on Army formations in the Northeast, the Minister for Defence, General Mansur DanAli,  has visited the Theater Operation Lafiya Dole on the instruction of President Muhammadu Buhari  to find out the real situation on ground from the Field Commanders in the front line.

The Minister, who held a closed-door meeting with the Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Buratai and commanders within the theater at the Military Command and Control Central, Maiduguri, said he was directed by Mr. President to go to the theater and find what went wrong and  take home recommendations.

“I was instructed by President Muhammadu Buhari to come and find out what happened and what needs to be done from the commanders”, General Danali said.

He also said:  “I have been briefed by the field commanders and the Chief if Army Staff have added his own. I will take home to the President all the recommendations and briefings done by each commander here”.

“I was directed to visit Chad on the same missions. Right now,  I am proceeding to Chad on the instruction of Mr. President“, he added.

It would be recalled following the renewed Boko Haram attack on Army formations across the theater, the Chief of Defence Staff, Genetic Gabriel Olonisakin, Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saidiq Abubakar and Chief of Naval Staff were in Borno for similar mission.

The Chief if Army Staff, Lt General Tukur Buratai has been on ground for over two weeks now.
