President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR, Dr. Rotimi Oladele, has called on government at all levels to insist on engaging services of professionals and certified PR practitioners, as against quacks, for effective communication, reputation and relationship management.

The association’s President, speaking on the theme “Media, Communication and the Challenge of Quality Education for National Development”, at the 4th Lagos NIPR Stakeholders’ Conference, held at

the Agip Hall, Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, last week, said ensuring quality control in communication will go a long way to check violence which often emanates from hate speech.

According to him, “all public relations practitioners need to use their professional skill to wage war against hate speech, which has recently emerged as a plague against civility, peaceful cohabitation and unity of Nigeria”.

The president, who was represented at the conference by Brig. General John Agim, Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Public Relations and Information, also noted that the conference’s series fosters interaction among stakeholders in the corporate existence of Nigeria, which is not negotiable.
