The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Anambra State has conducted its national delegates’ congress in all the 21 local government areas of the state.
The exercise was devoid of any violence or rancour.
It was monitored by the Independent National Commission (INEC), was to elect one man national delegates in each local government area of the state.
According to the party’s state chairman, Ejike Oguebego, they were delighted and thankful to God that the exercise went well without any form of turmoil from any angle.
However, the exercise was not without the usual presence of the security operatives whose roll it was to ensure that there was relative while in the course of the exercise in the state.
Earlier before the exercise commenced, the chairman of the party’s screening committee for the state House of Assembly aspirants, Alhaji A.A Hassan had conducted screening at Finotel Hotels in Awka on Friday.
Daily Champion gathered that the party’s National Assembly primaries in the state have been slated to hold on November 15.
Already, some of the names of the delegates had emerged with Mike Ikegbunam, a lawyer emerging in Ayamelum, Celestine Tagbo for Anambra East, Sir Obi Arumgbo for Oyi, Engr Ben Akah (Awka South) and Vin Oyiliagu for Dunukofia among others.
Speaking to Journalists on the outcome of the delegate election, the INEC public relations officer, Mr. Frank Egbo described it as orderly.
He said that during the exercise, the commission deployed its staff to all the centers in the 21 local government Areas.
Some of the centres he mentioned include central school Odoakpu in Ogbaru council area, Nnewi improvement union, Umuike primary school, Okpo village hall field, local government Area party office at Ozubulu, Eziani primary school Ihiala, Amenye village hall in Njikoka, Igweamaka primary school Aguluzuigbo, among other council areas.
