OBIORA IFOH, Abuja
The Forum of State Chapter Chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) loyal to Senator Ahmed Markarfi has said that the signatures of some their members were forged by faction loyal to Senator Ali Modu Sheriff. This is as the pro-sheriff faction insists that they are authentic state chairmen of the party while labeling the other faction as fake.
However the pro-Makarfi forum which met yesterday at Valencia Hotel in Abuja, opposed the appointment of individuals into elective positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of party which it said was not in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution.
While 26 of the state chairmen expressed their loyalty to the Senator Ahmed Makarfi-led National Caretaker Committee, another 23 stormed the national secretariat of the PDP to show solidarity for the party’s national chairman, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff
Akwa state chapter chairman, Paul Ekpo presiding over the Markarfi faction while addressing journalists, alleged that the name of four of the chairmen were listed without their authority during the purported meeting of the Forum of PDP Chairmen on 17mMarch.

We note that the purported appointment of individuals into elective positions in the National Working Committee (NWC) of PDP is not in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution and constitutes a departure from the judgment of the Court of Appeal beingchallenged at the Supreme Court.
The communique reads: “The Forum stands firmly on the sanctity of the outcome of the executives elected at the ward, local, state and Zonal congresses already conducted in line with the provisions of the PDP constitution. Any attempt to tamper with the constitutionally established structure will further polarize the party.
“The Forum believes that inspite of the crisis currently plaguing our party there will be a glorious dawn after darkness. We urge that nothing should be done by any of the dramatis personae in this crisis either by their words, actions, and conduct to make eventual reconciliation impossible.
The forum expressed appreciation on the good efforts of the former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan in conjunction with the PDP Governors’ Forum in proffering political solution to the crisis. We call on well-meaning members of the Party to support the efforts.
It also praised the efforts of the reconciliation committee under the Chairmanship of Governor Serieke Dickson, but urged that the report of the committee “should be submitted to all the organs of the party for inputs, discussions and decisions”.
The Forum takes note of the resolutions of the Northern Democrats of the PDP aimed at resolving the crisis and urge all members to embrace it.
The FCT chairman. Yunusa Suleiman who led the pro Sheriff faction however denied the allegations of signature forgey while also tasking National Chairman, Senator Sheriff to work with the reconciliation efforts of Governor Dickson to ensure that peace returns in the party again.
