Over 30 killed in twin bomb blasts in Maiduguri

Over thirty people were killed, several others injured in Maiduguri when two female suicide bombers detonated bombs at LayinWayakawoka street behind Monday market Maiduguri.

An eye witness who does not want his name in print said there were twin bomb blasts where two female suicide bombers detonated the bomb.

He said “the bombs were two while one of the female suicide bombers detonated the first bomb, after some minutes the second bomb which was detonated by a woman who dressed like a mad woman also killed the suicide bomber with many people killed and many others injured.”

The two incidents which occurred at about 11:30 am made a lot of people run helter skelter for their dear lives.

A civilian JTF AuduJambawa said over 60 people were killed, as many corpses were taken to the nearby State Specialist hospital, with over 30 in UMTH, while scores of others were injured.

“Over 60 people were killed, as you know the street is a busy business area where people gather daily for their business activities,” Jambawa stated.

Our correspondent who visited the scene of the blast, report that blood and human flesh were seen scattered at the scene with sympathizers trying to give helping hand to those injured.

A source from the University of Maiduguri Teaching hospital (UMTH) who pleaded anonymity said that over 40 corpses were brought to the hospital.

He said ambulances were also seen trying to convey the injured ones, with relation and friend rushing to the hospital to check for their love ones.
