Voice from the East, VEAST, an Igbo advocacy group, has critically evaluated the just- concluded Osun State Election with a passion and criticism of what really transpired with particular reference to foreign observer comments and civil society as unbiased umpires.
In a statement credited to Ambassador of America and British High Commissioner, the election, which clearly characterized by outlandish rigging and thuggery, was described by the world observers as “a sham and utter disgrace’.
In a statement issued by the Convener of the group, Comrade Kindness Jonah , Osun Election was anything but free and fair. ‘‘It has portrayed Buhari as insincere person when it comes to free and fair elections so far as APC is involved. Ekiti election was a hoax and clear brigandage. One would have expected a sensible deal in Osun if anything to salvage the political image of Buhari with APC that has plummeted badly.
“Now to the contrary, it is seen clearly that Nigeria is heading to the precipice with the grandstanding by a man whose change mantra is rather to the negative mistakenly expected on the positive side. Now, as Igbo would say, the wind has blown and we have seen the turk of the hen. We live to see if it is yet what its while to participate in 2019 general election. Nigerians should both wake up and rise up to the challenge of national demonstration and clamp down against Buhari’s dictatorial tendencies as manifested in both Ekiti and Osun elections . ’’’
