Okorocha, son-in-law confident of Buhari’s victory

KELECHI UZOMAH, Owerri

The Imo State governor, Rochas Anayo Okorocha and his son law Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has expressed confident that President Muhammadu Buhari will win the Presidential poll today.

Okorocha stated this to Newsmen shortly after casting his votes at Ogboko ward II at quarter past 10 am, today and urged Nigerians to participate actively in the ongoing 2019 general election across the country.

According to him, “Nigerians must participate actively in the ongoing 2019 election across the nation in order to save our democracy “.

The Imo State Governor who is also the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senatorial candidate for Imo West, said, election in his area was peaceful and it’s going on smoothly as expected.

He said, “For now and at this moment, I will say everything is going on well as stipulated and there is enough security. I think this election will be free and fair. “I will advice everybody to do this (vote) and save democracy in Nigeria”.

Reacting to the rumours of snatching ballot boxes, Okorocha said, “I heard that some of those rumours too. One in Umuobom (Ideato North) and Osemoto (Oguta) but these have not been confirmed yet.

“I think given the President statement on that, Imo people are really scared now of snatching ballot boxes”.

I really commend Mr. President’s statement because if not that, by now, more than 500 boxes would have been on the way. I think it is quite healthy for our democracy.

On the turnout of voters, he said, “Surprisingly, people are coming out to vote. People are beginning to understand what democracy means. People are beginning to understand that in this ballot papers lie their future and happiness.

“So, people have taken it more serious than it has ever been. I am sure in the next 10 years, we might be perfecting democracy in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, Ugwumba Uche Nwosu has expressed optimism that President Buhari will win the election given the good work he has done in the country.
