The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested a suspected fraudster, Akinwunmi Yomi, 57, who swindled three persons to the tune of N1.8 million, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State capital.

The victims are   Oluwoye Taiwo, 32; Adeola Joseph, 71, and Yusuf Bamidele 36.

They alleged that after Akinwunmi defrauded them of N1.8 million, under false pretence, he also hypnotized them so that they will not remember any transaction made with him.

The NSCDC, Ekiti State Command while parading the suspected fraudster on Thursday, said he specialized in obtaining people under false pretence around Ekiti State capital.

Akinwunmi, 57, was arrested in his shrine along Oke-Ila axis of Ado-Ekiti, following series of complaints lodged at the NSCDC headquarters on the dangerous activities of the suspect.

During the raid on the shrine, the suspect was found with charms, a woman pant, a Calabash and a picture of a popular prophet in the state capital.

During investigation on the suspect, who was questioned on how he got the woman pant found with him, denied the women underwear, but explained that the pant belongs to his wife.

But, independent investigation by the NSCDC revealed that the suspect was economical with the truth on the underwear in his custody, but it might have been obtained from a young lady who may be in her 30s.

Akinwunmi, the suspect later confessed to the crime, as he is assisting the NSCDC to apprehend other members of the gang as their network springs round South Western part of Nigeria.

In his remarks, the State Commandant of the NSCDC, Mr. Solomon Iyamu, however, warned the people of the state to be satisfied with what they have and warned traditional chiefs in the town to desist from shielding fraudsters in their district as anyone caught will be seriously dealt with.

The NSCDC Commandant further explained that the suspect would be charged to court after the preliminary investigations on the matter have been concluded.
