“Better to be awakened by a painful truth than lulled to sleep by a seductive lie” – Dr. Phil Mcgraw

The thought of Nigerian Football for now had gone beyond the Super Eagles of Nigeria, but to reason with Coach Samson Siasia, give him all the necessary encouragement and support to enable him replicate the victory of Atlanta, USA’96 under coach Bonfrere Jo! It has become very imperative to think along this lane because the Eagles have taken much time and energy of the Glasshouse with nothing tangible to show for.
The Rio Olympics is just by the corner and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are neck deep over the Senior National Team which had almost torn the federation apart, the coaches, the players and other stakeholders who had since gone different directions of the tide.
I am this pessimistic over what may come out of the Rio Olympics if the football governing body does not mellow down with the high speed of divided interest they gear up the Eagles for want of greed, self-aggrandizement and money interest; and at the end, the Eagles will fail, the Siasia team could fail; but they would have drained Nigeria’s lean purse.
Having said this, it would be foolhardy for the federation under Amaju Pinnick to put all focus and vague concentration on what they know would not yield result; because the energy being geared towards the Super Eagles is nothing more than the appetite to grab money.
They Abuja Glasshouse will pretend all is well and coach Siasia would be cajoled to say it is also well, but at last, when stories will begin to emerge, the truth of all matters would also begin to expose both sides of the divide – the Glasshouse and the Dream Team! This is because this Columnist is cock sure that at the tail-end “folk tales” will come up, which will lead to the going back of the drawing board and unnecessary apologies as usual!
The Amaju led football governing body must blink its eyes against the troublesome Barrister Giwa’s faction, whose utmost interest is to derail the wheel of Nigeria football further than what the people are experiencing, which had hitherto brought us to this level of football woes.
Coach Siasia must not be abandoned for whatsoever reason if the nation must dance with the same euphoria of 1996; because the Olympic soccer gold victory for Siasia is achievable; therefore, the entire department of the NFF must put in their best to see Siasia and his Dream Team returning from Brazil with the ultimate laurel and if this is achieved, the NFF is already paving way for an indigenous coach who will deliver the Super Eagles from all monsters in the nearest future! Good day!
