‘New fire-fighting equipment will minimise insurance losses’

The Insurance Consumers Association of Nigeria (ISCAN)  has said  the new trucks and equipment acquired by the Lagos State Fire Service would minimise losses for insurance consumers.
The Technical Adviser of the association, Mr. Yemi Soladoye, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the association would support any government policy meant to improve service to insurance consumers.
“This is another aspect of risk management. The insurance consumers normally arrange insurance protection believing that the risk may materialise.

“When the state government now puts in place measures to minimise the loss, it helps the insurance consumers in the sense that nobody actually wants his property to be destroyed in spite of the fact that they take insurance.
“We still don’t really want to make claim. So, once we are now sure that the state government had put in place another measure to minimise the loss, such state government has the support of the Insurance Consumers Association of Nigeria”, he said.
Soladoye said the association was working closely with the Lagos State Fire Service to minimise fire disaster in the state.

He said insurance consumers would have cause to heave a sigh of relief once measures aimed at mitigating losses by fire were perfected.
