A Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senate President Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has called on Nigerians to elect leaders that can be held accountable by the people.
Saraki also said Nigeria needed a president who can ensure justice and fair distribution of national appointments as well as unite Nigerians.He was speaking at the Abia State PDP secretariat Umuahia with his presidential campaign team to solicit for the support of party members during the party’s forthcoming presidential primary.Saraki said Nigeria was not going to be great by trial and error , stating: “Nigeria needs a leader with vision, countries are built by hard work and vision”.
He expressed dismay over the kind of leadership the country has now. He said he has gone through pains fighting for democracy and injustice and will continue to fight for the masses , adding that it is time to have Nigeria that represents every body to have equal justice “We need a President who can bring this country together. Nigeria is divided . We want a Nigeria we can have sense of belonging . Appointments will be based on Federal Character .We must grow and develop Nigeria . We have the potentials to do that. We need a team player . If I am there, I will ensure that we restructure this country “, Saraki said.
The Senate President,described the South East people as hardworking, saying their entrepreneurial spirit is wonderful .He said as a President he would partner with the South East to emerge as the next Tiger of Africa in business, even as he maintained that no country could grow when the private sector is not growing .
In his response , the Abia State PDP chairman, Chief Johnson Onuigbo, described Senator Saraki as “a born leader. We are not in doubt of what you can do “ .He said it was because Saraki is a team leader that is why Abia senators who are tested and trusted accompanied him, adding that at the right time, “we will make sure we vote for you” .
