NASS siege: Secondus asks Uk to expel Buhari…APC absolves Oshiomhole

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus has demanded that the United Kingdom government sends home President Muhammadu who it claimed is hiding in that country to plan the undermining of democracy in the country.

The National Chairman while reacting to the reported early morning siege on Tuesday preventing staff and law makers from gaining entrance to the National Assembly said that Britain should not allow its environment be turned into a haven for anti democracy conspirators.

Prince Secondus said in a statement that the President left the country to UK for 10 days medical leave to enable the nefarious activities they lined out against democracy be executed in his absence.

He said that the final plan for the invasion of National Assembly was concretized when the minority leader Senator Godswill Akpabio visited the President in London at the weekend.

According to Prince Secondus, “the siege in National Assembly  leaves no one doubt that President Muhammadu Buhari and his ruling APC are out to destroy this hard earned democracy all because they can no longer fit into it.”

Secondus also salutes the courage of the Vice President in sacking the Director General of the DSS, Lawan Daura to show that Nigeria cannot be hijacked and ruled by cabals.

The National Chairman said that democrats all over the World do not need any further evidence to show that President Buhari and APC have suspended democracy and are now running a draconian administration.

“When an executive arm in a democratic setting muscles up other arms of government, the correct name for such administration is autocracy and dictatorship.

“Nigerians and international community have continuously watched this administration, harass and intimidate the legislature and Judiciary as well as others in opposition in their bid to create a dictatorial regime.

“All over the World, the parliament is the bastion of democracy and rule of law anybody not willing to alien himself to them is trying to create anarchy in the land.

Prince Secondus said that the actions of the security agencies this morning clearly shows a drowning man who is totally alienated from happenings around his environment and suddenly wants to survive when the ship is already wrecked.

The National Chairman then called on President Buhari to resign and pave way for the sustenance of democracy since it is now obvious that he has lost legitimacy to continue as an elected President.

Prince Secondus said that no amount of intimidation and harassment will deter lovers of democracy from pushing for the extinction of this wicked regime.

He noted that Nigerians passed through this route before in their struggle to restore democracy in this country and the will of the people and that of the almighty prevailed and this time cannot be an exception.

“We are aware that when a regime exhausts idea of what to do and loses the legitimacy that brought it to power, it could be dangerous like a bull in China shop but truth is that Nigeria will survive this regime and laugh last.

In a separate statement, PDP’ national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan also called on the National Assembly to immediately pull the full weight of all legislative instruments against President Buhari, as that is the only way to save our nation from an imminent collapse.

The party said in sending armed security men to invade the National Assembly and block lawmakers from accessing the legislative chambers, today, Tuesday August 7, 2018, President Buhari has crossed the line by placing our democracy in jeopardy, thus setting our nation on the path of anarchy.

“The invasion of our highest legislative institution by agents of the Buhari-led executive, a few months after the Senate mace was blazingly carted away by armed hoodlums, is condemnable, reprehensible, unpardonable, and completely unacceptable.

“With this siege, barely a week after presiding officers of the Senate were held hostage at their residences, it has become clear that the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) intend to forcefully overrun and ultimately shutdown the highest lawmaking organ of the Nigerian government and pave the way for the total suspension of constitutional rule in the country.”

The PDP notes in this administration’s quest to foist a fascist regime our country, the APC-led government has taken several steps and actions tending towards the suspension of the 1999 Constitution (as amended), including direct usurpations of the duties and powers of the National Assembly and the judiciary in governance.

Nigerians and the international community will recall that the PDP had earlier alerted of this plot, which included the phony medical trip to London for President Buhari as an alibi to exonerate him from any blame for this sordid assaults on democracy.

The PDP, therefore, calls on the Government of Britain to support Nigeria at this perilous time by not shielding President Buhari in London. Nigerians urge the British government and other members of the international community to immediately condemn and totally reject the ugly developments our country.

But the All Progressives Congress (APC) said any attempt to link developments in the National Assembly to its National Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole is nothing but mischief.

Ag. National Publicity Secretary Yekini  Nabena in a statement said, “while the Party is monitoring the developments in the National Assembly like every other concerned Nigerian and stakeholder, there is absolutely no basis for all the false allegations and attempt to blame the APC National Chairman for the development there. It is strictly a legislative matter.”
