Lions Club donates items to school

EMEKA IHIEGBULEM, Owerri

Apparently billed to fulfill part of its community/social projects, the Region Chairman International Association of Lions Club, Region 6, District 404-A2, Lion Obialo Michael Thursday, donated set of text books, hand washing equipment and clock to Pearls International School Mgbidi in Oru West LGA of  Imo State.
Presenting the items to the school, the District Governor (DG) of Lions Club International, Lion Princess Obo Edet encouraged the pupils to carve a niche for themselves adding that their future will be determined today by themselves.
She said that the essence of the donation was for their good hygienic upbringing and mental development.
While asking them what they want to become in life, the District Governor told them that whatever they want to be in life will only be determined if they study hard.
She however, advised the pupils against examination malpractices as she encouraged them to do their school assignments (home works) and respect their parents and teachers.
Also speaking, Lion Obialo Michael told the pupils that the world is a global village. He added that the textbooks are for them to develop their cognitive domain early in preparation towards more academic challenges ahead.
Obialo, who told the children the need for frequent washing of hand, charged them to teach other children how to do so and the essence of it.
In attendance  were Lion Club members of Owerri Metro, IMOPOLY, Owerri Heartland, DG’s entourage and Leos (student members) from AlvanIkoku Federal College of Education,Owerri, Imo State University Owerri and IMOPOLY Umuagwo among others while teaching of reading culture and demonstrating how best to wash hands formed major highpoints of the event.
