SUNDAY ODE, Abuja
Acting President Yemi Osinbjo has finally assigned portfolios to two ministers sworn-in as federal cabinet members three weeks ago.
The ministers, Professor Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan were nominated by President Muhammadu Buhari since March this year for confirmation by the Senate.
Professor Ocheni is now Minister of State for Labour and Employment while Hassan Suleiman is Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing.
The deployment of the two ministers is coming after weeks of fierce criticisms that the Acting President had failed to assign them to duty.
The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had on Monday described the Acting President as a lame duck who has failed to assert himself since President Buhari left for London, United Kingdom (UK) for medical vacation on May 7.
The Acting President announced the portfolios of the ministers on Wednesday at a brief ceremony of the inauguration of 15 Federal Permanent Secretaries out of the 21 recently appointed, held in the Council Chamber of the Presidential Villa, Abuja shortly before the commencement of the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
