Some Lagos State House of Assembly members have congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari in the just concluded presidential and National Assembly elections, noting the victory portends a good omen for Nigerians.

The lawmakers gave the remarks through separate statements to express their delight over the victory of the president.

President Buhari of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was in the early hours of Wednesday declared winner by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Mahmood Yakubu polling a total of 15,191,847 to defeat his closest challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who got a total of 11, 262,978.

Amember representing Kosofe constituency in the Lagos Assembly, Hon. Tunde Buraimoh stated with the victory the President would be more refreshed to better the lots of the masses.

The lawmaker who is the chairman House committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Public Petitions, said, “The well deserved and much anticipated victory of President Muhammadu Buhari in the just concluded Federal elections in Nigeria portends a good omen and great expectations for Nigerians.

“The President had begun a long overdue revolution of attitudinal change against corruption , impunity, incivility, insurgency, moral bankruptcy and other menaces plaguing the Nigerian polity for a long time.

“With his success at the polls, the President is renewed , reenergized , refreshed and reinvigorated to continue at a better pace and tempo, his well laid out roadmap of repositioning the country, setting the right values and reorienting the standards of the people.

“A change in policy and programs at this material time would have been most unfortunate and engendered backwardness for the country.

“It is also hoped and believed that the solid frameworks of reengineering laid by the president in the past three and a half years will now translate to better life for the citizenry and they can count their direct benefits and blessings.

“Electioneering and the elections proper having come and gone , it is my counsel to His Excellency the President and Commander in Chief Of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria; Muhammadu Buhari to make haste in his altruistic and patriotic resolve to better the lot of his people. The gains of his fight against corruption should be immediately and directly channeled towards assuaging the basic needs of the people such as feeding, housing, health care and basic education.

“His drive for infrastructural renewal in critical sectors such as rail and road transportation, electricity , housing and others should also be accelerated.

“The President must be aware and conscious at all times that the people repose a lot of love , confidence and admiration in him and to whom much is given , much is expected.

“Finally , I must not fail to note that the President went all out to epitomize himself as a true democrat by toiling for his success instead of hijacking it. He traversed the entire length and breadth of the country preaching hope, good tidings and tenacity in his trajectory of success.

“He really worked hard and deserved the success. I therefore congratulate him and wish him an impactful tenure in office,” Buraimoh said.

Also, another member representing Epe Constituency II the Assembly, Hon. Olusegun Olulade, has described the outcome of the just concluded Presidential election in which President Muhammadu Buhari emerged the winner as a victory for the masses.

Olulade, in a statement congratulated President Buhari and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) elected across Nigeria, noting that “the tussle was between the masses and elite beneficiaries of a corrupt environment.”

While pointing out that “the good thing is that the masses won”, the lawmaker stated that “the public awareness has become so high that the masses voice also reflected in the National Assembly election, which showed that the people detest a legislature that constitutes perennial blockade to the good cause of the executive, as seen in the component of the current National Assembly.”

Olulade who commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for a job well done, stated that no election is completely perfect across the world.

According to him, “not even the American election is perfect, therefore, we need to commend INEC for painstakingly conducting a free, fair and credible election this far. We should not allow anyone to run down our electoral system particularly with disparaging comments from any international community or country.”

He urged the Peoples Democratic Party presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to exercise his acclaimed democrat spirit and maturity by congratulating President Buhari and ignore those trying to drift him towards chaos by calling for the rejection of the election results.

Explaining that service is not only about holding public office, he maintained that Atiku Abubakar can join hands with Buhari to take Nigeria to the next level.

Olulade also warned that any public protest arising from PDP’s rejection will paint the party in a bad light and desperate to return to power by every possible means, a sign that will simply means the PDP gladiators are truly interested in power only and not in the welfare of Nigerians.

While noting that development is smooth when there is synergy between the federal government and state governments, he called on the electorate to troop out on March 9 to vote for all the candidates of the APC for the gubernatorial and House of Assembly positions.
