Lagos lawmaker donates N0.5million to indigent students @ 55

A lawmaker representing Mushin Constituency 11 in the Lagos State House of Assembly and also winner of the just -conducted House of Assembly elections on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Hon. AbdulSobur Olayiwola, has counselled the youth on success, saying the path to success is rough.

Olayiwola, who is popularly referred to as ‘Omititi’ by his admirers, gave the remark on Tuesday during his 55th birthday cum a victory celebration party for his party members and leaders in the premises of New State High School, Mushin, Lagos.

According to Olayiwola, “To mark my 55th birthday,a dummy cheque of N500,000 was presented to the management of New State High School ably led by Mrs Atilade Oyeronke, other staff and students of the school as payment for their school fees. The cash has actually been paid,” he disclosed.

The lawmaker was joined to celebrate his electoral victory by the Executive Chairman, Mushin Local Government Area, Mr Emmanuel Bamgboye and all executive members of the council including all Councillors.

In his speech at the event, Olayiwola eulogised the significant roles played by the party members and leaders of Mushin APC in making him victorious at the polls, saying that the people of his constituency own the victory.

He explained that all groups existing in the party showed that APC was a party of victors in the last elections, saying the trust the people of the constituency have in him would not be betrayed.

“I have always carrying along my constituents by empowering them, lobbying employment slots for them and facilitate projects to the constituency. I will continue to do more and they should expect more empowerment programmes from me as I continue to represent their interest at the House of Assembly,” said Olayiwola.

He advised youths not to be desperate in attaining greatness, saying that they should be civil and be hardworking to achieve success, urging them to equip themselves with necessary skills that would aid their success.

“My advise to the youths is that Rome was not built in a day. Through hard work and civil attitude, they would reach the top. You work for success and to be successful in life is not a day’s job. At 55, I have passed through a lot before getting to where I am. I have seen the good and the bad but with perseverance, hardwork and prayers, I scaled through life hurdles,” said Olayiwola.

The lawmaker thanked the women wing of APC for their relentless efforts during the electioneering, saying that their contributions to the victory of the party in the local government at the just conducted general elections cannot be quantified.

In his welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Mushin Local government, Mr Emmanuel Bamgboye, described the lawmaker as a victor and winner who has political clouts across all groups in the party.

Bamgboye said that the political name of the lawmaker (Omititi) was a reflection of his political stature in the constituency.

“Omititi means Olayiwola is shaking Mushin and Lagos at large. He is a grassroot mobiliser and vision actualiser. I celebrate with you today on your 55th birthday and also your victory at the polls. APC and Mushin LGA is proud of you,” Bamgboye said.
