Kwara APC group hails sack of party executives

.Demands expulsion of Saraki, Gov. Ahmed

OBIORA IFOH, Abuja

Some stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have commended the National Working Committee for the dissolution of the state party executives.

Addressing journalists at the APC national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, the leader of the group, Taiwo Awodiji, said the stakeholders were urging the party leadership to expel the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki and Kwara governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed as well as their loyalists.

He also said that the group would want the party to order fresh membership registration to enable it to ascertain the authentic members.”You are aware of the recent development in our polity, where a number of legislators defected to other parties, and Kwara state APC was mostly affected by this. We the stakeholders of the party in Kwara state had forwarded a letter to the NWC making a number of demands.

“Among these demands are that the executive of the party in Kwara be dissolved and God be the glory, our able national chairman, Adams Oshiomhole was able to take the bull by the horn and on Monday he dissolved the executive in Kwara state.

“We are here in respect of that to commend the national chairman and NWC for responding to our demand,” he said. Some of the inscriptions on the placards held by the group read: “Sack Saraki from APC”, “Kwara state trust PMB more than Saraki”A source at the Senate President’s office has said the politician has dismissed the protest by the group describing them as ” a bunch of inconsequential ” fellows.

Apart from the sack of the party executives, the chieftain said they requested for fresh membership registration in the state.
He said that they also want the national chairman to look into their other requests including the expulsion of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Kwara state governor, Abdulfatai Ahmed and their loyalists for their anti party activities.

When asked to mention any anti party acts the Senate President has committed, Awodeji said Senator Saraki-led Senate had most of the times constituted itself as a stumbling block to the passage of Bills by the APC administration led by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The concerned party members had earlier planned to stage a protest today at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja against Bukola Saraki for alleged anti-party activities, but later dropped the idea.

CHAMPION gathered that the group which is loyal to the Minister of Information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed had complained bitterly against the alleged antics of the Senate President and the suspicion that he was behind the recent defections that hit the party, especially in Kwara state.

The suspension of their protest followed last Monday’s decision of the APC national leadership to sack the elected state party executives in Kwara State.
