Jesus: The giver of rest

(Luke 9:57-62)

“And it came to pass that as that as they went in the way, a certain man said unto him, Lord, I will follow thee whithsoever thou go, and Jesus said unto him foxes have holes And birds in the air have nests but the son of man has no where to lay  is head, and another said unto him, Lord suffer me first to go and buried my father , Jesus said unto him, let the dead bury their dead, but go thou and preach the kingdom of God, and another also said, Lord I will follow thee, but let me first go bid them farewell which are home at my house. And Jesus said unto him, No man having put his hand to the plough , and looking back is fit for the kingdom of God”. Brethren in the vineyard of our lord Jesus Christ you could deduce from the above passage that having known Christ as your lord and saviour and then go back to the world for any reason best known to you is barbaric and could cause someone to forfeit the kingdom of God.
Many christians in the world still make excuses similar to these ones made above. No matter how your excuses may be God will never condone or accept it. Immediately you give your life to Jesus as your personal Lord and saviour you have become light to the world.      That is why the bible says you should come out from among them (The wicked ones) be ye separate, saith the lord and touch not the unclean thing, and I will receive you. And will be a father unto you , and ye shall be my sons and daughter saith the Lord Almighty (II Corinthians 6:17-18).
Most of the excuses made by Christians around the world today that make them unfit for the kingdom of God include.
•    If I get job I will be very happy to serve God better.
•    If I get settle down that will gladden my heart to serve God.
•     I am poor now; until I become rich it wouldn’t be easy for me to serve God.
•     I am still an active worker man, not until I am retired before I can have enough
Time to serve God.
•    The work I am doing now does not permit me to serve God until I get another
Job before I can serve God the way I like.
•     I am a tenant now, I don’t have enough time to serve God until I finish my house
And pack in.
•     My car is faulty and I cannot trek to the church every Sunday or weekly service I will wait until I get money to repair it.
To mention but few, these excuses are very good but not good enough to debar you from serving a living and Almighty God who created you for a purpose. Are your excuses for not serving God regularly the same with the aforementioned or similar to it? It is high time to change that you will not forfeit the house prepared for you by God through Jesus Christ by make useless and baseless excuses. What does it mean by the statement of Jesus Christ that having put your hand on the plough and looking back you are not fit for the kingdom of God. It means having known Jesus Christ, accept him as your personal Lord and saviour, confess to be his child in this sinful world, promise to keep his commandments, promise to serve him with all your power, might and heart and later change to go and mix  the world and entangle with the things of the world .Dear reader , It will be very dangerous and disastrous for you. Jesus Christ even said that such person is not fit for the kingdom of God. Which means he has no portion again in the kingdom of God or the name of that person has been erased from the book of life.
I hope you can still recall what happened to lot’s wife during the destruction of Sodom and Gomorah in the book of genesis chapter 19,verses 1-end. The Angel told lot, his wife and his family in verses 17 that they should escape for their life’s they should not look back, nor stay in the plain, they were asked to escape to the mountain lest they will be consumed verse 26 brought a sad story which says that “But his wife looked back and she became a pillar of salt”. It pictured immediate judgment on the sinner. You might have looked back then fall apart from the way as lot’s wife did, but you are given grace to change today because the sudden  and immediate judgment as that of lot’s wife will come upon you and it will be too severe for you to bear.
Unless you repent and come back to Christ you cannot escape it (Heb. 2 :3).
Some of those who looked back in the bible and consequences on them:
Saul – A king in Israel, someone who knows the mind of God later went to the familiar spirit for Spiritual guidance. He killed himself when they shot arrow to him in the war front.Lot’s wife – she was the wife of lot a younger brother of Abraham. Because of      disobedient she became a pillar of salt when she looked back at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorah.Judas Iscariot – One of the leading disciples of Jesus Christ during his ministry on earth. He sold his Lord and saviour because of the love of money and commits suicide without genuine repentance.     To mention but few. Many of you have put hands on plough but later looked back though you may not receive horrible or immediate judgment as some people in the bible. God delayed the judgment because he does not want you to perish.     Do you value the gift of God for your life? If not so, value it today before it is too late. Your looking back may cause you eternal condemnation unless you repent from your evil deeds you may end up perishing like character mentioned above. (Therefore, stick to Jesus alone, the Author and Finisher of our faith).
People of the God do you now have the absolute assurance, that you have joined the winning side? Then you will not be harassed by fear. There is no way a believer can be crushed if he believe in Jesus and focus his attention on him. He is uncursable, he has the winner, God himself on his side. If God is for us who can be against us says Apostle Paul in Rom 8:31. Many Christians are compromising their faith in the Lord today just because of the pleasure of this world which does not last forever – whosoever put his on her hand on plough (Jesus the foundation of our life) and looked back (compromise) is not fit for the kingdom of God. Many Big guns in the christendom looked back today only to find themselves doing what God is not pleased with and they are happy with it. Whosoever missed God’s salvation automatically misses the greatest gift of his life. How shall we escape, if we neglect this great salvation (which is Jesus Christ) which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord (Jesus Himself) and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him. God also, bearing then witness with signs and wonders and with divers miracles and gifts of the holy spirit, according to his own will. Some people who looked back in the bible and their causes.
Judas Iscariot – Love of money,
Saul –Love of fame,
Gehasi – Covetousness,
Cain – Lack of faith,
Anania & Saphra – They lied to holy spirit,
Small prophet –Disobedient,
Vashit the Queen – Proudness,
Lot’s wife – Disobedience,
Korah, Datan, Abiram – Rebellion,
Achan – Theft and covetousness,
Eli’s sons – Fornication & Bad Character,
To mention but few. These people compromised their faith in God because of things that are temporary. If you turn your back to God you will loose everything including your life, which is so precious before the Lord. If you intend to look back, you need to change today before the wrath and horrible judgment of God  come upon you. DON’T LOOK BACK.
Jesus said in Mattew11 verses 28 that all who are labour and heavy laden should come unto him, He promised to give such person a befitting rest. Many Christians are preachers of yesterday and story teller of today, a praying Christians before and prayer- less Christian now, someone who devout his time to God’s words before but devote his precious time to read newspapers now, someone who can go on many days of fasting is now gluttony, it is high time for you to change before it is too late.
Judas Iscariot who was one of the Apostles of Jesus Christ left his master in order to bargain with the enemy of Jesus because of money that caused him his life here on earth and in the world to come. Heaven is better than this world. The primary reason of our creation is to serve God and glorify God here on earth as we would live do these eternally. Others things which may seem to occupy our time and lives today (As good as they may be) will terminate here on earth. They do not last forever and therefore giving quality services and  worship unto God should be our ultimate concern.    The Athenians in the bible had be worshipping the unknown god probably since time the city came into existence {long period of ignorance} however, the time they knew and accepted the Lord was when they began to justify their existence before God. How old are you? Receive the Lord Jesus now and start to give quality worship unto God. That is why you are created.
In the name of  Jesus, I say to you open the window of your life to Jesus, push aside fears, let your obedience in faith overrule all your nervousness. Let go and let God have his wonderful through you. And let your wisdom be “the wisdom that is from above which is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17). Jesus has been crucified for you don’t look at anybody again except him. The excuses that make you turn back from Jesus is not good enough to justify you before the Lord. God can neither be mocked nor faked he is omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient. He sees clearly, understand even the deepest and darkest areas of our lives and endeavours. The put up of an outward show of spirituality, which can deceive anybody else, is what God laughs at as man plans it. He alone knows our true spiritual condition and reveals it to us in several ways for our good and His glory. I WISH YOU HAPPY CHRISTMAS AND GOD BLESS YOU RICHLY.

Remain Blessed in Jesus name.
