INEC declares Zulum Borno Governor-elect

The All Progressives Congress (APC)., governorship candidate, Professor Babagana Zulum, has been declared winner of the March 9 Governorship election in Borno by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Announcing the result on Monday at the State Collation centre at the Kashim Ibrahim College of Education, Maiduguri the State Returning Officer, Professor Alhassan Gani of the Federal University Kashere said: “Prof. Babagana Zulum of the APC having satisfied the requirements of the law and scored the highest number of the votes is hereby declared winner and returned elected ”

“The total registered voters in Borno stood at 2.316,218;. total accredited votes, 1.292,138;while total Valid votes stood at 1.266.967 as well as 22,060 rejected votes”, Prof. Gani said.

Professor Zulum of the APC scored the highest votes of 1,175 440 to become Governor-elect. followed by PDP candidate, Alhaji Mohammed Imam, who scored 66.115 to emerge second;. white SDP and ZLP polled 10.771 and 4422, respectively, to emerge third and fourth positions.

The APC has won highest votes in all the local government areas of Borno State to emerge winner of the Governorship election in the state.

Earlier, the Borno State Resident Electoral Commission (REC). Alhaji Ibrahim Magaji, commended the security agencies, political parties, observers, media and all other stakeholders for smooth 2019 elections.
