Hope of Anambra State workers that their salary would soon be increased this year has been dashed.

This is as governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has assured the workers that their salary would be reviewed upwards or put simply, increased when the state’s internally generated revenue (IGR) hits 2.4 billion Naira.

Obiano stated this in awka recently when he addressed the workers.

Obiano who assured the workers of his continued support said the government had maintained its poise of regular payment of workers salary even in the presence of the economic recession adding that workers would also benefit in the housing estate being constructed in the state.

He said that given the present economic recession the government had continued to pay pensions, workers salary and kept its promise to the people of the state.

Obiano assured the workers that their salaries would be increased pointing out that the salary increase would be done when the IGR of the state hits 2.4 billion naira.

“Workers salary would be increased when the IGR of the state hits 2.4 billion naira”, Obiano said.

Earlier in their address the workers made up of the NLC and the TUC lauded governor Obiano for his identification with workers in the state and assured him of their support and consequently honored him with Workers Friendly Governor Award in recognition of his closeness to the workers and his friendly disposition to the workers.
