With the nation’s vast oil and gas history and potentials, The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mallam Mele Kyari will highlight how best to harness the industry potential for National Development at 2019 edition of the Association of Energy Correspondents of Nigeria’s (NAEC) Annual Conference.
It is expedient to note that Nigeria has the largest natural gas and second largest oil reserves in Africa with estimated known reserves of 37 billion barrels of oil and five trillion cubic meters of natural gas. However, industry pundits believes that there are still more discoveries to be made and there are need to use this resources to ensure the prosperity of the nation.
A press release by National Chairman (NAEC) Olatunde Dodondawa stated that the conference, with the theme “Harnessing oil and gas industry potential for National Development ” will hold at the Jasmine hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, on Thursday 22nd August 2019 by 9am
According to Dodondawa, the conference over the years has grown to become a dynamic and serious stakeholder’s engagement event in Nigeria focused on addressing challenging issues in the energy sector
He also noted that Nigeria’s energy crisis has impacted negatively on all sectors of the economy, stressing that the conference will address what government should do differently to reposition the electricity industry
Stakeholders in the oil and gas and power sectors, including International Oil Companies (IOCs), downstream oil and gas operators, independent producers, managers of the privatised power assets and other stakeholders, would also be at the conference to proffer solutions to issues to be discussed.
This year’s conference has two panel sessions and awards, the first session is titled: “Effects of sanctity of contracts on Commercial Operators’’ while the second panel session is titled: “Commercial viability in gas to power value Chain’
The award, which is a product of the selection of our Research and Intelligence unit of NAEC is our modest way of celebrating firms and individuals whose portfolio of offerings has come to define excellence, innovation, creativity and integrity.
