According to a legend, A young man while roaming the desert came across a spring of delicious crystal clear water. The water was so sweet, he filled his leather container so he could bring some back to a tribal elder who had been his teacher.
After a four day journey,he presented the water to the old man who took a deep drink, smiled warmly and thanked the student lavishly for the sweet water. The young man returned to his own village with a happy heart.Later the teacher let another student taste the water.
He spat it out, saying it was awful. It apparently had become stale because of the old leather container. The student challenged his teacher saying,”Master, the water was foul, why did you pretend to like it?
The teacher replied,”You only tasted the water, i tasted the gift. The water was simply the container for an act of loving kindness and nothing could be sweeter.
Gratitude is about focusing on what’s good in our lives and being thankful for the things we have .A grateful heart pauses to notice and appreciate the things we often take for granted such as having a roof over our head, having clean water, food, family and friends. It just takes a moment for you to reflect on the small things which seem irrelevant but has been given to you at a platter of gold.First, you have LIFE,which is the greatest gift on the surface of this earth,LIFE,which the richest man cannot buy.LIFE,which even the wealthiest man who is dead would have traded to become poor,LIFE,which no one has control over except the supreme being,GOD.
The ability to live today is enough for you to be grateful to God and it serves as a reminder to enjoy your present moment without complains and grumbling.Have you taken time out to count your blessings and privileges you enjoy now which some don’t have.Do you always have to look through your facebook, twitter aand instagram accounts and begin to compare yourself with their achievements.Know that they would post pictures which they only want you to see and not the video of the challenges they are passing through.
Desist from comparison,it would only lead you to see what you don’t have and what you have not been able to achieve.Learn to live with the present moment as Dolly Paton sang,”One day at a time, sweet Jesus…..,That is the life of a contented spirit
learn to see fun in your daily activities, don’t take life too serious that you end up losing each day’s humorous events. Learn to say THANK YOU from your heart, it attracts more blessings and learn to share your time, ideas with others, for the act of giving opens doors and brings more opportunities to your life.
Gratitude helps us build better relationships,it creates loving bonds, builds trust and helps you feel closer to those you love.By paying attention to tiny details of your life and nature, you build a gratitude habit which eventually becomes part of you.It would help dispel complains and you would see yourself transform into a person the world would always want to be attracted to.
Mohammed Ghandi once said” I was sad because i didn’t have any shoes until i met a man without any feet.’’Don’t fail to be grateful for every moment as You keep reading, till we meet in our next edition, enjoy each day.
