Fayemi replies Fayose: Focus on issues, avoid distractions

Fayose must apologise for despoiling Ekiti values

With this kind of accusation coming from Eleka, and by extension Governor Ayodele Fayose, it is clear that PDP has run out of idea to lapse into issue that does not add value to their campaign.

Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation is focusing on issues of development and good life for Ekiti people among whom are the obas.

Instead of convincing Ekiti people with his programme appeal, Eleka backed by Fayose is here distracting us on issue we had long initiated to establish contacts with the royalty across the state.

It is on record that Dr Kayode Fayemi few days ago set up a high-power delegation to visit the obas in their palaces and the delegation has almost completed its assignment. The plan is that by the time the delegation completes the first round of visits, Fayemi will take the last lap of visits before the election. For the obas that have not received the delegation so far, Fayemi is using the opportunity of campaigns in their towns to visit them.

Example is the Oba of Okemesi-Ekiti, where the author of Eleka’s press release, Lere Olayinka, comes from.

It is amusing that Eleka on behalf of his master, Governor Ayo Fayose, is talking about Fayemi not  showing respect to the obas.

This is Fayemi that bought brand new cars for all the obas, rehabilitated their palaces, increased their allowances, instituted a free health service called “Ilera Laafin” for all the obas and never allowed obas to stay in the sun for late hours waiting to receive him.

Instead, Fayemi ensured that paying visits to the obas in their salaces was more dignifying than asking them to stay in the sun like PDP government is wont to do.

Ekiti people are living witnesses to the humiliation that Ekiti obas suffered in the hands of Fayose that is now prodding Eleka, the man that wants to inherit everything that Fayose represents in this world in government.

We can remember how Fayose dragged out the late octogenarian Elekole of Ikole, Oba Adetula Adeleye, out of his car in broad daylight on the street. We remember that the late Attah of Ayede was put in the booth of his car. Onijan of Ijan was disgraced out of the Obas’ meetings many times before Eleka’s godfather in his reckless fashion sent thugs to menace the oba with guns in his palace so much that the oba ran to safety.

The Ewi of Ado-Ekiti who Fayose and his anointed son are defending today suffered humiliation of threat of dethronement. Oba Adejugbe Aladesanmi became the victim of ceaseless media attacks with Fayose setting various traps for the monarch to dethrone him.

When we thought that Fayose and his political kingdom had turned a good leave for respectful conduct to the royal palaces, Fayose led Eleka to this same Ewi two months ago to harass and humiliate the oba in the sanctuary of his palace, talking him down as if the Ewi were a school boy.

We advise Eleka and his godfather to face campaign issues instead of cheap propaganda and blackmail that have become the hallmarks of Fayose and Eleka to earn undeserved public support.

Ekiti people are wiser now after lies and deceits sold to them as promises of good living only to worsen their social conditions that have dimmed their hopes for a brighter future.

For a better society
