We have so far registered 674,514 voters in Borno – REC

We don’t need your trust, Nigerians believe in us – INEC carpets PDP govs

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Borno State, Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Magaji, has said the commission has so far registered 674,514, votes in Borno with 560,503 voters from April, 2017 to July 2018 and 114,012 votes from 1st August 2018 to 29 August 2018., as well as 183 unclaimed PVCs.

Briefing newsmen at a media forum organised by Borno NUJ Council in preparation of 2019 general elections held at the NUJ Press Centre, the INEC REC said the cumulative figure included both new registration, transfers and replacement of PVC.

“Out of the 560, 503 registrations, the Maiduguri Metropolitan Council has the highest number of 15,082, while Dikwa Local Government have the lowest with total number of 465 registration’s,” the Resident Commissioner stated.

He said: “We have a total of 70,000 old unclaimed Permanent Voters Card that were yet to be collected and 113 unclaimed PVC out 209,000 for 2017″.”The ongoing continuous Voters Registration is schedule to end tomorrow Friday August 31st 2018 but the collection of PVC will last until few days to 2019 general elections, ” he added.

Alhaji Magaji said the closure of the CVR is to allow INEC have time to print the PVCs and their collection. All these were to ensure smooth, free and fair and credible election that will be adjudged the best the nation ever had.He appealed to the electorate to collect their PVCs to enable them vote for the candidates of thier choice and assured that the INEC will co continue to issue their PVCS until few days go election
