Fairly Used and New Motorcycles Parts Association(FUNMPA) Chairman, Eloka Ubajekwe has lamented the infiltration of fakers in the Nnewi main market saying the fraudsters deprive the Anambra State Government needed revenue to develop the state.
Ubajekwe said fake insurance agents, fake plate license, receipts operators had taken over from genuine operators prior to his becoming chairman of the market association recently.
He said the market which has over four hundred traders pay their Internally Generated Revenue (IGR )to the government but lament that the amount was too small compared to the amount of revenue lost to the fraudsters in the market.
Ubajekwe who disclosed this in an interview with Daily Champion explained that his leadership had since assuming office tackled the challenge of insecurity in the market ,fake receipt issuers, fake insurance and other fake products operators in the market to reduce the amount being lost to them by government.
“This is one market where all kinds fake product operators has a field day. There are fake plate numbers, fake insurance operators, fake receipts among others. These deprive government of needed revenue in form of IGR. But since we came on board, my leadership said ‘no’ to the fraudsters . If we get anybody issuing fake insurance notes, fake receipt or any other fake products we deal decisively with them”, Ubajekwe said,
The FUNMPA Chairman said being a private market, his association could only be service oriented pointing out that FUNMPA could not build stores, or embark on heavy duty projects given its private market status.
He called on the Anambra State government and other relevant agencies to assist FUNMPA rid the market of fraudsters.
