Ex-Champion woman is NGE’s secretary

A former Managing Editor with Champion Newspapers Limited, CNL, Victoria Ibanga has been elected General Secretary of the Nigerian Guild of Editors, NGE.
At a keenly contested election recently at the Airport Hotel Ikeja, Lagos, she polled 117 votes to defeat her opponent Mustapha Isah of Sylver Bird Group who polled 103 votes.
The election of a 15-member executive committee to run the affairs of the Guild was the highpoint of its Biennial Convention. The incumbent President, Mr. Femi Adesina was returned unopposed while Garba Deen Muhammed emerged Deputy President.
Suleiman Uba Gaya, Steve Ayorinde and Fred Fabor emerged Vice Presidents North, West and East while  Mary Yinka Atolagbe will serve as Assistant Secretary.
Other officials elected are the Treasurer, Ogbang Akwaji; Social/Publicity Secretary, Funke Egbemode. Standing Committee Members are Sabastine Abu, Sani Adamu, Ken Njoku, Juliet Njiowhor, Ray Echebiri, Ken Ugbeche and Austeen Elewodalu.
