Equity market sustained growth profile, gains N22bn

Investment in the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday sustained growth profile, gaining N22 billion.

Market Capitalization of listed equities improved by 0.17 per cent to N12.829 trillion from N12.807 trillion reported on Wednesday.

The NSE All Share Index (ASI) also increased by 44.58 basis points to 26355.35 points from 26310.77 reported the previous day.

Investors traded 347.796 million shares worth N6.792 billion in 2756 deals against 156.849 million shares cost N1.809 billion exchanged hands in 3,088 deals.

A review of transactions showed that Seplat Petroleum Development Company led gainers table during the day, improving by N48.00 to close at N565.00, Nigerian Breweries followed with a gain of N3.75 kobo to close at N50.00, Dangote Cement Industry gained N0.40 kobi to close at N149.40 kobo while Flour Mills Nigeria Plc added N0.20 kobo to close at N14.20 kobo, UPL increased by N0.09 kobo to close at N1.30 kobo.

Conversely, MTN Nigeria Plc recorded the highest loss for the day, dropping by N1.00 to close at N126.00, Guaranty Trust Bank followed with a drop of N0.60 kobo to close at N24.90 kobo, Oando Plc down by N0.25 kobo to close at N31.11 kobo, Lafarge Wapco declined by N0.10 kobo to close at N13.30 kobo while FBNHoldings fell by N0.05 kobo to close at N5.25 kobo.

The result further showed that Zenith Bank Plc recorded the highest volume of activities during the day, exchanging 103.685 million shares valued at N1.769 billion, FCMB group followed with account of 85.120 million shares worth N136.570 million, Guaranty Trust Bank traded 39.183 million shares cost N980.524 million, United Bank for Africa sold a total of 21.658 million shares worth N125.591 million while MTN Nigeria Plc exchanged 21.254 million shares cost N2.678 billion.
