Equity market lost 0.24% Monday

Trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) closed the first trading session of the week negative, losing 0.24per cent. However, market breadth index was positive with 19 gainers against 14 stocks that declined.

Today’s performance was driven by the losses in Continsure -10.00per cent, MRS -9.98per cent), Mansard -9.90per cent, PZ -9.65per cent, Lasaco -6.67per cent and Stanbic -4.06per cent, which outweighed the gains in Jaizbank +10.00per cent, Diamond +9.23, LearnAfrica +8.62per cent and FCMB +7.59per cent.

Sector performances were mixed with Consumer Goods -0.72per cent having the worst performance, followed by Industrial -0.03per cent also closing negative. Oil & Gas +2.07per cent and Banking 0.61per cent closed positive.

In terms of activity level, total volume and total value rose by 0.12per cent and 14percent respectively, as investors exchanged 250million units of shares worth N2.72billion. FCMB +7.59per cent was the most actively traded with 103million units of shares worth about N161million.
