The equities market Monday closed the first trading session of the week positive, gaining 0.61%.Similarly, market breadth index was positive with 27 gainers against 5 stocks that declined.
Today’s performance was driven by the gains in Glaxosmith LAXOSMITH +9.96%, UAC-Prop +9.72per cent, NPFMCRFBK +9.56per cent, PRESTIGE +8.93per cent and JAIZBANK +8.89 per cent, which outweighed the losses in MBENEFIT -8.00per cent, UnionDac -8.00per cent, FO -7.77per cent and WAPIC -4.76per cent.
Sector performance was marginally positive with Consumer Goods +1.37per cent emerging the best performer, followed by Banking +0.36per cent. The Oil & Gas sector -0.14per cent closed in the red, while Industrial was flat.
In terms of activity level, total volume and value declined by 10per cent and 36per cent respectively as investors exchanged 148million units of shares worth N1.80billion. Oando +2.00per cent was the most actively traded with 30million units of shares worth about N154million.
At the IEFX window, the Naira lost 0.15per cent, 0.07per cent and 1.15per cent against USD,GBP and EUR to close at N363.69, N466.93 and N416.01 respectively.
In the parallel market, the Naira closed flat at N364/USD, N412/EUR and 470/GBP.
