Dapchi School girls: Concerned Mothers of Nigeria call for fasting, prayer

INNOCENT OKONKWO

Concerned Mothers of Nigeria (CMN) on Wednesday appealed to Nigerians to fast and pray for the timely rescue of Dapchi School girls that were abducted by the Boko Haram terrorists last week.

CMN, while acknowledging President Muhammadu Buhari –led Federal Government’s efforts in rescuing the abducted school girls, called on Nigerians to lend their spiritual support to such efforts through fasting and prayer.

In a statement signed on its behalf by a former Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu and made available to Daily Champion Wednesday, CMN charged both states and Federal Governments to put adequate security measure in schools to forestall the repeat of such act.

The mothers also called on the Federal Government to identify and punish those whose actions led to the abduction of the innocent girls.

The statement read in part: “Concerned Mothers of Nigeria are calling on Nigerians to fast and pray to support the Federal Government’s effort to rescue the abducted Dapchi School children. Nigerians should join us and pray to God to cause confusion in the camp of the abductors and expose those behind the terrorist act of this kidnapping whoever they may be.

“We also urged the governments to protect other schools to forestall any such act in future and also identify and punish those whose dereliction of duty led to the abduction.”

For a better society.
