SELYA YARNAP, Bauchi
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Bauchi State has said it was adhering with the court order restraining it from going ahead with the collation of Tafawa Balewa gubernatorial election results.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Bauchi, Alhaji Ibrahim Adullahi told newsmen Tuesday that the commission would not continue with the collation of Tafawa Balewa gubernatorial election results.
He assured that the commission would continue with the collation of state of Assembly results pending the decision of the court on the matter.
According to him, “INEC is in receipt of a court order restraining it from proceeding with the collation and announcement of result in respect of Tafawa Balewa Governorship results”.
The development, he said followed a Court order served on its head office Abuja that the collation should stop until Court deliberate on the matter Wednesday.
Ibrahim Adullahi then called on the people of Bauchi State to remain calm as the Commission is determined to be fair and just to all parties.
It would be recalled that a fact finding Committee sent to the state headed by Festus Okoye has directed for resumed collation of election results in Tafawa Balewa local government.
