Two men, Chidiebere Okoye,42, and Anwalu Mohammed, 48, has appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos over alleged theft of a 40-foot container with 1,118 generators valued at N7.9 million.
The accused, who live at Ijora in Lagos State and Kudan Village, Zaria, Kaduna State, respectively, are facing four count charges bordering on conspiracy and stealing.

An Ikeja High Court has rejected the bail application filed by a 52-year-old man, Moses Olayemi, accused of defrauding a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, (SAN), Dr Aliyu Salman, of N2.5 million.
The trial judge, Justice Lateef Lawal-Akapo, in a ruling on Olayemi’s bail application, agreed with the objections raised by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

EBOJELE AKHERE PATRICK, Benin

PATIENTS and staff of Time Hospital in Owina, a suburb in Benin City, the Edo state capital,  scampered for safety Wednesday following an attack on the hospital by one of the admitted patients, who suddenly went berserk.
The patient, simply identified as Ikponwosa Omorogbe, had been on admission about two weeks ago having suffered bullet wounds along two others from a fracas that broke out in a political meeting involving the opposition party in Egor local government area of the state.

The wife of Ekiti State Governor, Mrs. Feyisetan Fayose has said that she would support activities aimed at arousing the interest of the girl child in science subject.
Speaking in Ado-Ekiti while receiving representatives of the State Chapter of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) led by its Chairperson, Mrs. Oluwayomi Osuntokun, who were on a courtesy visit to her office, Mrs. Fayose lamented the prevailing  poor performance of students in Mathematics related subjects.

THE House of Representatives Committee on Police Affairs on Friday declined audience with the representative of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Suleiman Abba, over the invasion of the National Assembly by armed policemen in which process teargas canisters were thrown at the Speaker, Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal.

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan said on Friday in London that the Federal Government, the Nigerian Armed Forces and security agencies are working very hard to ensure that the ability of Boko Haram to capture and hold any Nigerian territory is ended very soon.
Speaking at the opening of the meeting of Nigeria’s Honorary International Investment Council (HIIC), President Jonathan assured the gathering that the Armed Forces and security agencies were making steady gains in recovering areas recently taken by Boko Haram.

Speaker, Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Sabit Ikuforiji,  has  called on Muslim clerics and faithful that gathered for 8th Annual Hijrah programme hosted by the  Assembly to pray to enable him achieve his desire to become next governor of the state in 2015.
Ikuforiji made the plea at the annual event attended by Muslim scholars, including Dr. Abdulrrazzaq Abdulmajid Alaro, Barrister Abdullahi Adam Al-Ilory, state lawmakers, and Clerk of the House,  Ganiyu Abiru.
