Chairman, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF) Apapa Chapter, Dr. Fred Ajuzie has absolved the National leadership of NAGAFF and of all the associations that took part in the suspended withdrawal of service embarked upon recently by freight forwarders against APMT and ENL .
It has been alleged that but for compromise on the part of some of the National Officers of some the protesting association, the strike would have continued to some certain extent.

The Director-General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Mr. Ziakede Patrick Akpobolokemi has dismissed the alleged purchase of Norwegian warship by Messrs Global West Vessels Specialist Limited for its use on the Nigerian maritime domain describing it as handiwork of detractors.
Akpobolokemi who stated this while fielding questions from Journalists at a World Press Conference organized by the agency in Lagos on Tuesday maintained that the much talked about warships were the same boats earlier commissioned by the agency and were subsequently fitted with guns by the men of the Nigerian Navy.

…Sponsors 33 graduates on maritime courses

The Taraba state government is currently sponsoring 33 youths with bachelor degrees and Higher National Diploma (HND) from the state to acquire knowledge from the maritime sector.
The youths are currently offering a year programme from the foremost maritime institution in areas of shipping management, nautical sciences and marine engineering.
Speaking with journalists on recently during a school’s end of year party and passing in out parade, the Rector ,Dr. Jim Ovia said that the government of the state found it worthy to train its citizen in maritime studies; saying that it is a good initiative from a northern state to foresee the potentials in the maritime sector.

Following the recent reopening of the cargo warehouses shut down by the Murtala Mohammed Airport Command (MMAC) of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), the National Association of Air Freight Forwarders and Consolidators (NAFFAC) has faulted the move by the men of the command to allow only licensed customs agents access to the warehouses as part of crowd control measures.

…Appeal against judgment

Counsels to the Association of Shipping Line Agencies (ASLA) and the Seaport Terminal Operators’ Association of Nigeria (STOAN) have obtained an order for stay of execution of the ruling of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos which dismissed their suits against the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC) over the reduction of shipping line agency charges (SLAC) and refund of container deposits with regards to ASLA members and reduction in progressive storage charges and increase in free storage days with regards to STOAN members.
