Indications have emerged that the federal government under President Muhammadu Buahri wants to quicken the delivery of the multi-billion naira Lekki Port project as government is set to pay the counterpart fund of $117 million. Former president Goodluck Jonathan was said to have down played the payment.

The Former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Peter Obi has said that President Goodluck Jonathan has set up a committee to overhaul the nation’s seaports with a view to finding out why the ports were not functioning effectively despite huge investment by the federal government in the sector in the recent years.


Leading maritime lawyer and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Mr. Femi Atoyebi has said that Justice Ibrahim Buba of the Federal High Court, Ikoyi, Lagos “clearly acted without jurisdiction” in ruling on a stay of execution application filed by the Seaport Terminal Operators Association of Nigeria (STOAN) in a matter between the association and the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC).  Atoyebi said Buba’s ruling will not stand.
