Lagos State House of Assembly yesterday approved a total sum of N489,689,869,621bn for Year 2015 and sent a clean copy to the state Governor, Babatunde Fashola for his assent.

The passage of the money bill for 2015 represents the last appropriation the Speaker, Adeyemi Iluforiji would consider since he assumed the speakership post in 2005.





THE National Adviser to the President Goodluck Jonathan Presidential Campaign Council, Chief Tony Anenih yesterday declared that though the presidential tickets of other parties have no experience in democratic leadership, the fight for Jonathan’s re-election should not be taken with kid gloves.

Anenih while speaking at the inauguration of the PCC stressed the importance of a victorious presidential election for the party, stressing that it would have a bandwagon effect on the outcome of subsequent elections.



Ekiti state Governor, Ayo Fayose has tipped incumbent president Dr. Goodluck Jonathan to be reelected in the February election.

Speaking to airport correspondents at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, MMIA, Lagos on his arrival from abroad, Fayose explained that the forthcoming presidential election would generate reactions if any of the two major contestants won, but warned that no one had the monopoly of violence.

India’s Acting High Commissioner in Nigeria, Kaisar Alam on Sunday said the trade volume between Nigeria and India reached 17 billion dollars from April 2013 to March 2014.
He said in Abuja that India imported 14 billion-dollar worth of goods from Nigeria during the year while Nigeria imported three billion-dollar worth of goods from India in the same period.

The militant group Boko Haram has seized Baga town, a key multinational military base in the Kukawa local government area of Borno state killing many people and burning houses and shops officials and eyewitnesses said yesterday.
A resident of Baga, Mallam Audu Labbo who fled to Chad Republic told newsmen in a telephone interview that the insurgents who engaged the Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF) in a fierce gun battle later over powered them and took over the town.

The All Progressives Congress, APC in the South East geo-political zone has commended Ohanaeze Ndigbo for rejecting a motion for the endorsement of President Goodluck Jonathan as the candidate of the Igbos in the 2015 presidential election.
Spokesman of the APC in the zone, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, in a statement weekend described those that opposed the motion, which was tabled before organization’s Imeobi (inner caucus) meeting on Saturday as “true Igbo patriots”.

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Suleiman Abba, yesterday directed all Police commands in the country to ensure water-tight security, particularly through aerial and boarder patrol.

In a New Year message signed by Commissioner of Police (CP) Emmanuel Ojukwu, the IGP also sent out felicitations to Nigerians on the coming 2015.
