THE police command in Benin, is currently investigating the traditional ruler of Sasaro in Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state over allegations that a police rifle allegedly taken from a policeman attached to some expatriate workers in the area was found in his bedroom.

Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator Anyim Pius Anyim and former Governor of Bayelsa State, Timipre Sylva are Chairman and co-Chairman of the inauguration committee of the incoming administration of General Muhammadu Buhari.

Anyim heads the 14 incumbent government’s representatives at the committee, while Sylva leads the other 13 members representing Buhari’s incoming government.

Senate yesterday put in place legislative framework in order to reform the electricity sector for better service delivery by passing into law, the Nigeria Electricity Management Bill.

In his remarks after the passage of the bill, the President of the Senate, Senator David Mark, expressed satisfaction with his colleagues for their cooperation in passing the bill, pointing out that when signed into law, the legislation would help address the current problems facing the sector.

Petroleum Resources Minister, Diezani Allison Madueke has said that the cabals in the oil industry have been relentlessly after her because of the far reaching reforms that her administration is carrying out in the oil and gas sector.

She said those reforms have dislodged the cabals including some multi-national concerns and deprived them of hundreds of billions of dollars that were cheaply and dubiously accruing to them.

The Federal Government said yesterday that the impression created by reports after last week’s Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting that the handover date to the incoming administration had been shifted backward to May 28 was wrong.

Accordingly, it stated that the handover date by President ‎Goodluck Jonathan to the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari remained May 29, which is also the nation’s Democracy Day.
